The Online Sand Sale Management & Monitoring System, developed by Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation is a classic example of how government departments can utilize technology in innovative ways. This system will not only help check illegal mining of natural resources, it also ensures that the revenue received from a region, is spent on that region's development.
The state government did not receive even Rs 10 Crores revenue from Sand sales in the last 5 years, even though lakhs of tonnes of Sand was illegally mined and sold. The government is now hopeful that the Online Sand Sale Management & Monitoring System will help achieve a revenue of Rs 800 Crore in the next 5 years. The revenue realized from Sand sales would be utilized for the development of villages in that region.
