Considering the need for a faster infrastructural development in the rural areas
Government of India has created a dedicated fund known as Rural Infrastructure
Development Fund (RIDF) of ` 25000 crore with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural
Development (NABARD) for the current year. Of this ` 1205 crore has been allocated to
Andhra Pradesh and ` 900 crore has been allocated to Telangana.
During the Project Sanction Committee Meeting held on 16th January 2015 at New Delhi,
NABARD has sanctioned ` 200.05 crore for Andhra Pradesh and ` 250.61 crore for
Telangana for various infrastructural projects in these states taking the cumulative
sanctions during the year to ` 852.26 crore and ` 250.61 crore for Andhra Pradesh and
The sanction given to Andhra Pradesh will be utilized for creation of 43 hospitals in 13
districts whereas, the sanction for Telangana will be used for construction of 6
Polytechnic buildings, 26 Junior Colleges, 13 roads and 33 bridges in 9 districts of the
State., Shri Jiji Mammen, Chief General Manager, NABARD informed.
Shri Mammen also informed that NABARD is considering the request of Telangana
Government in part funding “Mission Kakatiya” Project in Telangana State. Andhra
Pradesh Government has also requested for a similar support for their “Neeru Chettu”
project, which is also under consideration of NABARD.

NABARD sanctions ` 765 crore to the State of Telangana
Shri Jiji Mammen, Chief General Manager, NABARD in a statement said realizing the
importance of Warehousing infrastructure for promoting Agriculture economy in the
country, Government of India has established a dedicated fund “Warehouse
Infrastructure Fund” in NABARD with a corpus of ` 5000 crore for the year 2014-15.
Warehousing facilities are necessary to prevent the loss arising out of unscientific
storage and also to equip the farmers with a convenient credit product of financing
Shri Mammen announced sanction of Warehouse construction / renovation for
additional storage capacity of 12.60 LMT, in 1037 locations, in 9 districts of Telangana
State from Warehouse Infrastructure Fund (WIF) with a total outlay of ` 806 crore and
WIF loan of ` 765.363 crore. The sanction was accorded by the Project Sanction
Committee of NABARD on 16th January 2015.
Telangana State has recently made an assessment of the warehousing requirement in
the state and it has estimated a gap of around 21 Lakh MT in the State. Out of this gap
12.60 lakh MT will be addressed through the sanction provided by NABARD.
The creation of warehouses will help the farmers in availing finance against warehouse
receipt which will help in distress sale against commodities after the harvesting.
